The short version

FairTab has no accounts. Your groups, expenses, and balances live in your browser’s local storage. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to improve the app, and nothing else.

What stays on your device

Group names, member names, expenses, balances, and your purchase status are stored locally in your browser. They are never uploaded. Clearing this site’s data deletes them, which is why the app offers a JSON backup.

Anonymous analytics

The app sends anonymous usage events (for example: app opened, expense added, checkout started) to our own server, tagged with a random per-browser identifier. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or the contents of your expenses. Member names, descriptions, and amounts are never included in events. We do not use third-party ad or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell data.

Payments

The one-time upgrade is processed entirely by Stripe. We never see your card details. After payment, Stripe redirects you back and we confirm the purchase with Stripe using only the checkout session id.

Children

FairTab is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
